Our Library Saved?
In this session we will look at the issues around the campaign to Save North Kensington Library for public use.
The campaign was active for two and a half years before the tragedy at Grenfell Tower when things took a momentous change of course for our area. In the wake of this, the Council took the decision to keep the library in public use. But how fundamental is the change? What would the Council do differently, if faced with the same set of circumstances that led to the decision to lease the building to private interests?
FNKL invite you to explore the ongoing issues about how public space is managed in North Kengsington, using the case of the library as a starting point. Together we will look at the history of the campaign and the issues that it raised and consider where the work has been successful - and what still needs to be done.
